A taste of Tuscany in Orlando

As part of her U.S. book signing tour, Chef & Cookbook author Pamela Sheldon-Johns (and friend of 4 years) demonstrated the art of Tuscan food last night at Gallery at Interlachen. I had asked Pamela a few weeks back to include O-town in her tour so I may put a fundraiser together for FEED THE CHILDREN, an organization which main purpose is to end child hunger around the World. Local fundraiser in chief Adam Pate had been working hard for month in an attempt to reach his goal before taking a trip to Africa over the summer and distribute food. After raising $4,000 in a few hours for Haiti Relief in the presence of Haiti, France, Italy and Spain consuls, I felt challenged to do the same for Feed The Children.

Last night was a great success at all levels. Pamela was a hit and knowing her for having traveled to her home in Tuscany many times, I knew she would be loved in Orlando as well. Her personality and amazing interaction with the guests made it a unique experience.
The silent auction for FEED THE CHILDREN went very well and I am delighted to be part of Adam’s fundraising campaign. We shall do some more over the coming months and look forward to working with all my friends in Orlando to make this as successful as possible.

A special thank you to my MBA board colleagues Dr David Baker-Hargrove and Jason Holstein for coming to support the event last night, as well as to Chef Jaime McFadden & George for their hospitality.
